The Adirondacks hold some of the darkest night skies left in the Northeast. This map shows modeled sky glow for 2025 — tap or hover anywhere for the sky quality there. The darkest sky inside the Blue Line sits near Little Salmon Lake in the William C. Whitney Wilderness, where artificial light adds just 9% to the natural night. The brightest spot in the park? Dannemora, under the lights of a maximum-security prison.
